A GLIMPSE OF GOLD
It's 1982. Private Detective Al Gerard is sipping a beer in a tavern south of Seattle when a young woman sits down next to him. He has no idea who she is or why she is handing him an envelope under the bar, but soon Al is looking into a suspicious death from twenty years ago. The lines between work and play start to blur - things are not what they seem - and everything gets messy. As soon as he unravels one mystery, others come into view. As he searches for the truth about what really happened in the past, murders start happening in the present.
STAREDOWN
John Feducci shows up at the door of Private Detective Al Gerard's cottage in Seattle wanting Al to carry a ransom payment to recover his client's daughter kidnapped by South American revolutionaries, presumably. The lawyer represents the girl's father who wants to avoid publicity for undisclosed reasons. Gerard doesn't like the set-up and doesn't trust Feducci. The job sends Al first to Miami, where he meets the girl's dysfunctional family, and then on to South America. From there, it's a turbulent, strange case challenging Al to expose deceptions, confront his own failings, and retrieve the girl. And stay alive.
